Chris Woodwiss

"I was born in Adelaide, South Australia and grew up in a happy and loving environment.  My parents and two brothers, 8 and 9 years older than me, were very caring and protective.

I moved to New Zealand in 1987 and now consider New Zealand my home.  I am so fortunate to live in such a beautiful and safe place.

Having children, and now young grandchildren, who I want only the best for in life, I have become aware that there are many children throughout the world who are not afforded the opportunities that we so much take for granted.  I strive to make a difference wherever I can and worldwomen provides me the opportunity to connect with other like-minded women interested in making a change in the world."

Chris has worked alongside Theresa Gattung as her Executive Assistant for over 20 years.  The first thirteen of those years were at Telecom New Zealand as Theresa progressed from General Manager, Sales and Marketing to Chief Executive during what was a turbulent and exciting time for the telecommunications industry.

As Theresa’s focus changed from Corporate to governance positions, entrepreneurial start-ups and philanthropic work Chris has had the opportunity to take on a diverse range of projects and work on a daily basis with some amazing and interesting people in a variety of circumstances.

Calm in a crisis Chris approaches any challenge with humour, wisdom  and steely determination.

She considers herself very fortunate to be able to work from home in Nelson, New Zealand.
